    Database on server gets corrupted?

    Greetings Access Community!

I have been lurking around for a bit and finally decided to join the forum with questions/answers.

The issue at hand is the following: I have an Access DB placed on a shared drive for 4 users in Manila and 4 users in Sofia (Bulgaria) to use. Every once and a while the DB starts giving users an error message- file already in use and the DB becomes suspiciously small (80MB to 8MB), and keeps growing with time (30min later is already 15MB) and the error message has changed to "database has been placed in a state by user 'Admin' on machine X that prevents it from being opened or locked.

    Any ideas come much appreciated!

Are you using a split database?
Each user gets the Frontend (apps/forms/query) db, but only the (Backend) tables db stays on the server.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your reply!

No, currently it is a single DB. I can split it but apart from being easier to replace the front if it gets corrupted what else would this do for me? I am looking to find what the issue might be and try to resolve it rather than a workaround.

The fact that you have a db with multiple users that has not been split is most likely the issue. Split the db and your issue will probably disappear.
If this helped, please click the star at the bottom left of this posting and add to my reputation . Many thanks.
