Multi-User Database - maximum number of people??

After a 10 year period away from it, I'm re-learning Access and a question occurred to me earlier...

In your opinion, how many people could use a multi-user Access database before it started to slow down and/or have issues etc. I presume a multi user DB would be split and have a FE and BE??

I'm guessing there is probably some sort of maximum at which Access could work to, after which it might start to slow down and become less efficient...???



In a way, I'm also asking just how powerful is MS Access??

Any thoughts and opinions all appreciated.
