    Lightbulb Damaged Database

    Hallo Forum,

we have a local client mdb und and a mdb on a server share. When I want to start the DB first I need to execute the client with parameters/options and then it connects to the mdb on the server share.

Recently a users tried to modify records (add/modify) and got a message that the db is damanged and needs to get repaired. I googled an found out that this:

But how can I do that? Do I need to open the server mdb oder the client mdb and repair it? This is a importent database an i dont want to damage it completely.
    (using Access 2007 I think)

    Thanks for advice and regards

Start by making a backup of both db's then open each one directly and execute the Compact and Repair that you show.

....and then after following RG's advice - - hopefully that fixes your immediate issue - - if this is indeed an important db - you should look into upgrading to a current version of Office/Access and also converting it to the current .accdb file type.

There is nothing wrong per se with the older generation products - but falling too far behind in version upgrades is generally unwise for a database application .....
