Access suitable for detailed price list?

I am considering learning how to use Microsoft Access specifically for the purpose of making a price list. The price list in question would be reasonably detailed and the final price for an item will consist of many components from different manufacturers. All these components would increase in price at different times so I would need to be able to update these prices individually.

Is Microsoft Access the software for me? I have been trying to do it on excel and although possible its extremely long winded and limited.

    Thankyou,

    Warren

Please show us in plain English the algorithm you plan to use for Price calculation.
How do you change the Price of an Item? Do you plan on offering loyalty programs for repeat Customers?
If so, how would that be reflected in your algorithm? What about Sales, or special promotions, how would such prices be handled?
I don't see any issue using Access, however, you are showing a very high level requirement --and as usual the devil is in the details.

As I said, I'm not even a beginner yet with access. I couldn't tell you what algorithm I would use as I don't know anything about them yet. All I can tell you is that the price list is for kitchen cabinets which are made up of a lot of components. At the moment I am using excel and in my workbook every supplier has a sheet and the final sheet has totals of components from each supplier which were manually inputted. To change the supplier prices I currently use a simple excel formula to increase all their figures by the relevant percentage. I don't require promotions but to have specific prices for specific customers would be very handy.
