Hey. Is it possible to update an Access 2010 database using Access 2013 but still have the users of the file running Access 2010 or is it going to convert it to 2013 and they will have to upgrade?
Thanks in advance.

If the db doesn't use any features exclusive to Access 2013, 2010 should be able to open the file. Mostly 2013 drops a lot of features but supposedly increased web capability.
Do you already have both versions available and can test this?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
Other things to consider would be Macros created with Access 2013 and other people trying to open the file while you are in exclusive mode.
I have heard complaints about macros created in 2007 not working when 2010 users tried to run the macro and vice versa (2010 macros not working with 2007).
I do not know about 2013 vs 2010 but, I have had adverse affects when trying to open the same file (mdb) at the same time using different versions (2003 and 2010). My solution to this is to use a master copy FE file for editing purposes. After the user opens their copy with an earlier version, I do not make further edits on said file. I will edit the master and give the users copies. For BE files, I use the earliest version for editing purposes.
