    Broken Reference?

A couple of my users have a database they work on in (don't laugh) Access 2000 running on Windows XP. They want to make some modifications to the forms and apps, etc. I have tried to open the database in Access 2010 on a Windows 7 machine and I get a message that the "database or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file 'utility.mda'." I have opened the VB editor and see a 'Reference to utility.mda' listed under References but it doesn't seem to contain anything. Is this a problem due to the difference in versions of Access and is it something that can be fixed?

It means that Access 2010 cannot find the file "utility.mda" on your PC. Try removing that reference by unchecking it, then close and re-open the database. It is unlikely that Access 2010 needs this file.

There is no option to check or uncheck or do anything with that reference listing.

Did you open the VB editor and go under "Tools" and "Reference"? It should show you all the reference that is using and you should be able to check and uncheck them.

Whoops. No, I did not. I guess I should have read the help message a second time. Words are hard.
