Broken reference

Got a new computer from my Company with Access 2010 on it. And when I open one of my databases (Access 2000) a window opens stating "Your Microsoft Access Database or project contains a missing or broken reference to the file 'MSCAL.OCX' version 7.0.



The problem appears to be with one of my reports. The first column contains a date field in which I entered the following format =Format$([When],"mmmm yyyy",0,0)

When I open the report on the old computer (Windows XP, Access 2007), it opens without the above warning. But when I open it in the new computer (Windows 7, Access 2010), I get the warning and the report shows the first column as #error.

Would appreciate any advice

It sounds like a *bogus* MISSING reference. Just uncheck that line in your references and see if the problem goes away.

That solved the problem in one DB but not the other. Will keep trying

Does the "other" db have MISSING references as well?

I'm not getting the same message. It just fails to display the date correctly in the report instead showing #error.

Have you placed your db in a Trusted Location?

It's in My Documents folder on my laptop. Not sure what a trusted location is.

I'm using Access 2010 and it doesn't show that Option button on the Security Warning bar like Access 07 did. Of if it does I haven't found it.

I click on the ExternalData tab then click on the Access logo and it offers me the opportunity to import Access data into this DB. I gather I'm doing something wrong.

Am still getting the Format error on the date field when I open the report but all else is working fine.

Try the following format command and see what happens:
=Format([When],"mmmm yyyy")
