    Database Corrupted?

I have a database and I was typing info into the records and one minute it was fine and the next I got an error message - "Cannot open database. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt." What do I do now?

    Options:

    1. if you can open the db, run compact & repair

    2. create new db and import everything from the old

    3. revert to backup copy

    4. 3rd party commercial recovery tools

    5. SOL, data lost, start over from scratch

I note you list your environment as XP/03 - which at this point is seriously behind the times. Is there any chance that the db underwent development in a more recent version? This could explain your experience. But the fix is simply to use the more recent version of Access.
