Question Attaching Graphics - Get 'database may be corrupted' after several thousand entries

I have database with 7 tables, the main one containing 85 fields of which 2 are jpg attachments. After approximately 2000 entries (4000 graphics), I cannot enter any more graphics, getting the message that database may be corrupted. This occurs even if i compact & repair immediately before the attempted entry. These graphics are embedded, about 300KB each. Is there a limit to the number of attached graphics? Should they be linked rather than embedded?
I have created an empty "Part 2" database with the same construction and am able to continue my entries in a new database, but eventually will want to produce a single database.
This has been a time consuming experience - after crashing previous databases and being unable to salvage the entries. Am now making 2 backup copies after each ~50 entries.
Why couldn't they keep dBase or FoxPro???????

    No.... just file size.
The max file size for Access 2010 is 2GB. (see: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ac...010341462.aspx)

Should they be linked rather than embedded?
Yes. The accepted practice is to put the jpgs in a folder and store the path to the graphic (usually as a hyperlink).

THANK YOU! That's it - the file hit 2GB. Where do you get your info? M/S support is useless. Access for Dummies also.

Thanks, Steve - another question - can I change the graphics field in the table from 'embedded' to 'linked' without disturbing the data already in the table?

BYW - we were in AK several years ago for about 6 weeks with our popup camper. Awesome (at least in the summer).

I don't know. I have never embedded graphics in Access. All I can suggest is use a back up and try it.

We've had a great summer so far. June was 30 days of sun & no rain!! 80 deg +......
