Noob help!

I am relatively new to access and not quite familiar. But i am still learning to become a guru..

So my question is:


if there is already a value in a field, for example "Science". How can i take only the first letter "S" and display it in another field?

And yeah, is that possible on MS access? or do i need to migrate to VB 6 or 2010? quite confused there.

Am looking forward to asking a thousand more questions about other things in the coming months.. xD

If you go to Access Help you will find a list of Functions there.

The Function you need to solve your problem is "Left"

=Left([YourFieldName],1)

haha, silly me. Now i remember this. My teacher explained..
and yeah the new interface on office 2010 is really bugging me. In VBA the codes are not displayed in plain text. Do you know how to revert back to old VBA?

To revert back to the old VBA first remove 2010 then install 2003.

Microsoft made things difficult with 2007 then made it worse with 2010. Just my opinion (and that of a lot of others)
