No Summary option in Query Wizard

I have been using the "summarize" option in the query wizard to sum fields. (Access 2003) Now it is only giving me the option sometimes, and other times it goes straight to the end with no option to sum. Any idea why it might do this or has anyone else had this problem?

    Thanks you!!

I'd recommend learning how to create queries in design view. The query wizard only has so many options. As far as why the option isn't there, I really don't know. Sometimes Microsoft tries too hard to be user friendly. It probably looked at your data and determined that a summation option wouldn't be relevant so it blocked it out.

But yea, you don't even have to get into SQL. A good grasp of the design view will make things much easier for you. Open a query in design view and throw a table in there. double click on the field you want to sum. When you see it show up on the bottom, right click in that area and select the "totals" option. It'll have the sigma sign. Where it says "group by", change it to "sum" or whatever else you want.
