Access locks up after error message

I'm in the middle of a QBE and when I start entering a Criteria I get the following message: The expression you entered contain invalid syntax and Access completely locks up. I have to use Task Manager to force the program to close. This a random but fairly frequent error. What to do?

Start by posting your sql. It's probably something simple like a missing quote or parentheses. If it's very long, maybe use code tags and line breaks so that we don't have to scroll fifteen feet left and right to look for a problem.

I would try a repair of Office.

I would agree with CJ. Vista would probably be the main problem.
