Hi,
I can't figure out how themes and forms/controls work in Access.
I have a database and a front end that was built to be aesthetically pleasing, but then someone joined the team who is dyslexic so I made a front end that is more monochrome and shaded to suit them. I did this manually by going through each form setting backcolors, forecolors etc. All good, most on the team use the original front end, my colleague has one that is hopefully better for them.
My issue is, I thought I could revisit the design and set up my front end so that just by selecting a different theme it would change all the relevant control properties, I could then have a 'standard' theme, then the modified one for my colleague. When I make changes to the front end I could simply create on the standard one, then copy it, and apply my dyslexic theme on the copy.
However it doesn't seem to work like this. I can create a theme of colours, but the created theme doesn't appear in a control's properties, even the colour categories of a theme (text/background dark 1, text/background dark 2 etc.) don't seem to have any bearing on what is listed as options for the control property (it shows Background Form, Background light header etc. and Access Theme 1, Access Theme 2...).
What I had hoped was that I could set all buttons to have the 'text/background dark 1' colour as their forecolor for example, and then when I changed theme it would sustitute whatever was in the theme for this .
I'm wondering if maybe a theme is really just a palate of colours to choose from, but has no ability to automatically be applied?
Can anyone help clarify if what I'm trying to do is possible?
