Question Data doesn't show when using greater than symbol to capitalize state field

I've created a Customer Table with CustomerName, Address, City,State and Zip. In design view, I placed a > in the format option of the State field which is supposed to force all caps in that field, whidh it does. However, when I view the form in DataSheet view the states do not show in the column unless i click on the field and only the one I clicked on shows, but disappears when I click off??? Any help would be appreciated.

I don't do such formatting in table. I do formatting in controls on form or report. However, that doesn't explain why data would not show. I cannot replicate issue. If you want to provide db for analysis, follow instructions at bottom of my post.

The closest I can come to replicating your issue is when I format in table and then click on the field in the form or datasheet, the text loses the formatting.

If you format it in the source query for the form or datasheet using UCase() it stays as uppercase when you click on it
If this helped, please click the star * at the bottom left and add to my reputation- Thanks

Yes, when you click into field it shows the actual unformatted value.

And UCase() is a function used in an expression and that results in a non-editable field.

I hope I have attached the above file. I have reduced it to only one table, customers. In datasheet view on my computer with access 365, the state field does not display the data, but if I click into the field in one of the records, the correctly formatted field show for that record. Click out and it disappears again.

Yes, see the error. Couldn't fix. Created new field, entered data, formatted with >. No display issue.

I tried to copy/paste the original column to new column and that would not work until removed > format from original column.
