report opening problem

I have a form in which a combo selection pulls up a specific report. Does anyone have any ideas as to why its telling me "There isn't enough memory to perform this operation. Close unneeded programs and try the operation again", when I have nothing else open? It says the same thing when I try to open the report in design view. Is my report file corrupt?

make a back up. do a compact/repair. check again.

if still there; reboot machine. check again.

if still there; open only the query/record source - see if it works ok...if not - address it at this level not the report itself - maybe you have a query with an infinite loop or something.

put the app on another PC and see if it works ok - - it may - there is a good chance it will. if so - then it is a hardware/print driver issue (not sure which)...if it happens on another PC then delete the report and rebuild it from scratch...

I work on a PC at a client location which does this periodically. Always with a report but otherwise randomly. 95% of the time a reboot clears it. Reports that open, even in preview mode, are dependent upon a good print driver and while I suspect that is the issue in my case - I haven't had the time or need to fully resolve cause it is only an old test PC used by visitors like me....but if it were critical I probably would reinstall the print driver...and make sure there isn't other old long gone unused printers hanging around in the printer file.

While it surely will not hurt to stop other background apps that are using RAM - it is doubtful that it is the issue.
