    Japanese text

Someone entered a new work order into the database today using Japanese font. Now when I open the table & try to change any of the fields, I get an "Invalid Argument" message. It also won't let me delete the record. I'm getting syntax error messages when I try to change it on the form. What can I do to get rid of this record?

Yes, I'm guessing it doesn't recognize the Japanese characters as text. But when I go into the table, or even the form, it won't let me change anything. When I try, I get the Invalid Argument message, and it won't save the record when I close it.

When I try to delete the record from the table, the error message says "The search key was not found in any record". The autonumber field is 335549460, where it should be around 2836.
    Any thoughts?

I think you might be importing, probably from Excel? Check if a spreadsheet column header has a leading space. You can only see it in the sheet, not in Access.
If that doesn't help and a compact/repair doesn't help, can you upload a zipped db copy here with instructions on how to replicate the issue?

I did a compact & repair, and was able to delete the record. Ah, the simple things!
    Thanks.

You're welcome. I didn't have high expectations on the c/r.
