Huge Database BE Bloat

Hi All



I have an issue with the BE of one of my clients database. After updating their Office to 365, the tables database suddenly started to bloat at an alarming rate.

I have exhausted all of my knowledge trying to get to the bottom of this.

The BE expands from 10mb after compaction to 2gb in the space of 3-4 hours of data edits and updates.

I have Record Level Locking set to off, Track Name Auto Correct is off.

I have attached a clip of my references.

Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated.

In order to help we would need to know more about what's happening whilst:

The BE expands from 10mb after compaction to 2gb in the space of 3-4 hours of data edits and updates.

For example:
Do these updates involve make table queries?
Does the database contain attachment fields?

Thanks for your speedy reply.

The tables don't have any Attachment fields, however there is a make table query involved in adding and editing customers.

If the process does a lot of appending then deleting, that is known to cause bloat - especially if there are frequent fails. If you are using OpenDatabase to make a connection to the db, I believe that record level locking setting is ignored. Also, if one user has a record level locking setting, each one will have to follow suit but I don't know if it matters if they're first in or not. Probably not. What you didn't say is that you turned it off for each user, which is kinda suspect unless there is only one user. If more than one concurrent user, each has their own fe?

All users have own FE. Record locking off.
Wasn't happening in 2010 version so can't work out what is going on.

Can you tell us about the major processes in the application supported by this database?
Were there any logic/structure changes when moving from AC2010 to O365??
Were there any issues during the testing/transfer from 2010 to 365? That is is this something new?
Do you have a test database( FE/BE) that you could post for readers to review?

To confirm, were the make tables always in the database?
