    Modifying Record Source using Form Design

    I am trying to amend the record source of an existing form and sporadically I can either get to the Table view and many times I can't. And, I don't know how to avoid that.

    What can I do to prevent this sporadic error from appearing?Click image for larger version.

    @ranman256,

    No, there is no code in the form. Seems that if I wait (the time varies) and go back to the form that I want to amend, then I can get into the Table view. There is no other pattern that I can discern.

    OK, I tried playing with a few things and looks like I can reproduce consistently the opening of the Table view by:

    1. Creating a copy of the Form
    2. Opening the copy in design view, opening existing fields and then clicking on Edit Source.

    I can then open any form and get to the Edit source/Table view without triggering the error above.

    I guess I now have a workaround.

    My apologies, I do not understand what you are trying to do.

    First you are talking about opening a form to edit a table??
    Then you say something about "opening existing fields and then clicking on Edit Source". I cannot find that anywhere.... unless you have a SQL string as the record source of a form??

    If you want to edit a table design, in the database window, RIGHT click on a table name, then select DESIGN VIEW. That is all it takes.

    Same with a form. RIGHT click on a form name, then select DESIGN VIEW.
