two people working on the same database at the same time

I recently split my database and put it on my companies shared server so that multiple people can access it at any given time. Just to make sure of how this works, if two people want to work in the database at the same time, then they open the folder location and both open the front side of the spreadsheet correct? They work enter in data respectively and then just save the database. Or is there more to it than that?

    No sharing,
give each user their own copy of the front end.

IMHO the best way is to have a copy of the front end on each users own machine, each being linked to the backend db.
If this helped, please click the star at the bottom left of this posting and add to my reputation . Many thanks.

100% agree with Ranman and Bob. Each member should have their own copy of the front-end.
Since you would be putting it right on their machine (or maybe in a personal drive on the network), it can have the same name, since they should only be able to see their own copy and not anyone else's.

i read the article and it talks about emailing copies, sending links to the folder, and even cd and thumb drive transfers. can you also create a shortcut to the file on your desktop or does it just have to be a copy of the file? The article isn't very specific.

Ideally it's a copy on the user's computer. That means the objects aren't being pulled over the network all the time, just data. Most of us use some sort of version control utility that downloads new versions to the user's computer automatically.

Second best would be separate copies on the server. As has been mentioned, you don't want concurrent users sharing a copy.
