What is the meaning of this dialogue box?

    Hi,
I found a copy of MS Office 2000. Since I know nothing at all about Access I thought I would load it and learn about it.
All seemed to be going well until I tried to use the wizard.A dialogue box appears asking what SQL server you would like to use for this database and wanting me to specify the username and password for it.
All I wanted to do was play with a database on my computer. What am I missing here. OS is Windows 10.

    Thank you!!

Which wizard? What did you do to start that wizard?

If you want to 'play' with database, then just start building tables. Have you studied an introductory Access tutorial? It should cover basics such as relational database principles, Access functionality, and elementary programming.

Access can work as single database (all tables, forms, reports, etc. are in same database), or be splitted into front- and back-end databases (all or most of tables and saved queries/views stored in one or several BE databases and linked to FE database of one or several designs). BE databases may be of different types (Access, MS SQL Server, etc.)

It looks like you activated the wizard to connect you DB to MS SQL server BE, and Access did ask you for connection parameters.

In addition to the advice provided by others, I suggest you do some research of Database generally.
The Database Planning and Design link in my signature will take you to several articles in various formats to help you with database and Access concepts and tutorials. But keep in mind, Access is a tool --knowing when and how to use it is critical.
Here is a youtube introduction to Access Database.

    Good luck.
