Sharing Access file on OneDrive Folder?

    Hi everyone,

I want to share my access file that contains a search Form (search any keyword within the table/source file and the results will pop up) into a OneDrive folder on my desktop at work, in which I will grant access to x amount of users (lets say 3-20).

What is the best way to go about this? I have tried splitting the file into front end and back end and shared only the front end to two users. This did not work - is it because I forgot to include the back end as well into the OneDrive folder?

Additionally, I sent another test file and did not split the database into FE and BE and my end-user opened it fine and interacted with the form perfectly. However, I know this is not the most optimal way as I am afraid of it being unable to run when let's say (3-20) users use it at the same time.

What's the best way to go about this and/or solve my problem, thanks.

You should have a shared back-end db with just the tables in it, and each user should have a local copy of the FE file.

The backend will NOT work well (if at all) shared on any cloud platform. Access uses the back end file as if it is on a local drive so you need direct permanent connectivity. OneDrive (or any other cloud based storage) does not give you this.

Where or how would you recommend me to store the BE file. Sorry, I am not very fond with Windows, so would I store it in a folder that is accessible to the entire company? And if so, how would I reference the FE to the BE, if that makes any sense.

And when you mean local copy of the FE file, do you mean for example, i share the FE file on OneDrive, each user has access to it and can download it and now its saved locally onto their computer?

    Thanks, I really appreciate it.

Normally you would locate the BE on a Network share that the entire company has access to.

Your FE would be developed with linked tables to that back end, and then you would distribute a copy of the master FE it to the end users local PC.
It may be advantageous to create Accde (compiled version) that end users can't easily modify, depending on your usage.
Have a search on here or google for methods to Auto Update an Access Front End database
