Unable to Solve a Related Record Error

Hi, I'm inputting a new book to my library database; publisher, but when I refresh the Publisher table, the following error appears:

'Youcannot change or add a record because a related record is required in tabletblCentury'

I'm not sure how to solve this error and was hoping someone could assist. Thanks.

It appears you are trying to add a record in a child table and there is no corresponding parent record in the parent table.

See this post for similar situation and responses. https://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=68069

Thanks Orange, I've deleted the data from the fields, unlinked the tables and starting the process again. But I'm now getting this dialogue box:

"Relationship must be on the same number of fields with the same data types".

I've compared both related tables for field size and type, all other settings appear to be similar but when I try and force referential integrity, I get the above dialogue box. Cheers

Problem Now fixed. In the main table, I had the FK fields set to Short Text. They should have been set to Number to correspond with the AutoNumber of the ID fields in the joining table. All works fine now.

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
