    Compile Errors

I have a database that has been working for about 20 years. It has been modified over the years. The last update was in 2010.

it worked great until this year when Access 2016 users were added to the mix. However, it has been working well for 2 months with this user.
Now when trying to enter any data at all it immediately pops up a Compile Error.
Only 2 users use this database currently. I just wish there was a way to remove all of the extra VB code and just let them enter data. Everytime I try to fix something, something else pops up.
Any pointers as to where to start? paul

It would help to know what the error is.

Went back in time. It had 2 missing References, #1.. "your Microsoft Access database or project
contains a missing or broken reference to 'dao2535.tlb" version 3.5. #2. missing utility.mda. A previous search just said to uncheck these. However, this database will not work without the "dao2535.tlb" which it was written with in Access 97. Luckily I searched thru old folders and stumbled across a copy of it. I pointed the broken reference to the file and it seems to work for now.
However, I know this is a temporary fix and I need to find a permanent solution.

That sounds pretty permanent to me. Broken references are the most common cause of this type of error.
