    Need help setting up database

I want to create a database, but I don't know how to get started. I essentially want to be able to perform a look up to see what software components a system has on each environment.

Some systems have several live and non live environments, and many different components. Also each component may use the same software. So I can't wrap my head around how the database needs to look because everything is so interwined.

How should I approach it? Also, I'm really new to access! I have 2007.

Start with something less complex. Watch some youtube videos. Understand some data base concepts before jumping into a physical database.
You may find some ideas at this link.

Write a description of the "business" you are trying to support with this proposed database in plain, simple English.
Define each of the things you want to use in simple terms. It will help you with analysis and design.

    Good luck.
