Creating men us and calling items

I come from a 4GL background (filePro 16) and whilst I get the basics of Access, one thing seems to escape me.

Let's say I have created a query that finds all valid subscriptions based on a date in a single fil. How do I create a) a front end menu that starts automatically from Windows, and then b) displays a list of menu items, of which my valid subs query is one. I then want to click a button that causes the query to run, (it will create an export file for use in a mail merge) and then returns to the menu.

Many thanks. Once I get the idea of one menu item, the rest should (?) be a breeze

find an example called the SWITCHBOARD. It builds a menu screen from items in a table.
Using the settings it can open forms, table, queries, etc.

to start the switchboard main menu, create a macro called AUTOEXEC.
    in this macro, openform switchboard.
It will start when access opens.
