Flashing Buttons??

Hi Everyone,

I am having an issue with all of my forms in my database I have created. When the mouse hovers on any button, the button will "flicker" and it is quite annoying. Does anyone know why this is, or how to stop this from occurring?

I did not use VB code to create buttons, only the macro builder. I am using Access 2010 on Windows 7.

Ive seen this when a form is built in old access, and then used in new access.
If you dont want this feature,
copy the name of the current button, remove that buttton,
then in the new access, add a button and rename it to the previous button name.
be sure to click the event back in the click event.

Thanks for the reply ranman256. I have been using access 2010 at work, and access 2016 at home to work on this database. So perhaps I caused issues going back and forth between versions.

I tried to re-create the buttons in access 2016, they are still "flickering" when I hover. I may have to just live with it.

Check that the hover color, fore color and background color values are all the same. Since the hover color property doesn't apply to db's older than 2013 (I think) you might end up with a combination of colors that cause flickering. If they are the same, try removing any themes that might be causing it. This assumes you don't have any Mouse Move event running since you mentioned that it happens for all forms. I presume this only happens when you've opened the db from 2010 in your newer version.

Yes the hover color, fore color, and background color are all the same.
I saw on another forum someone was having this issue, and "resolved" it by setting the theme to "no". But this turns the button gray. Doesn't really go with the theme of our database. I would really like to have the buttons colored green.
I didn't use a theme to create the button, however I changed the fill color, font color and added bevels and shadows. I have tried removing all the formatting, and it still does not resolve. It almost looks like a white rectangle is being overlayed on top of the button for a split second when you hover on the button.

This flickering occurs in both 2010 and 2016...

This is probably a bit of a hack, but if you can't resolve it and it's bothersome, maybe if you make the buttons transparent and place them over a rectangle of the same size you can color the rectangle whatever you want. A long time ago, when the only button option was grey, I sometimes made them transparent and put them over image controls. Those controls had images with color transition effects, which looked kind of cool. Maybe if you keep searching, you'll discover a fix for it, but I'm out of ideas I'm afraid.

Thanks for the tip! That seems like a work around, but at least it gets rid of the annoying flickering. I may just do that to all my buttons. I'd love to mark this solved, but hopefully someone else has seen this issue and resolved it.
