Differences between MS Access 2010 and 2016

In Microsoft Access 2010, if I want to see the code for the form I am working on, I open the from in design view, select one of the controls and then press F4 to bring up the properties sheet, then I

go to event tab in the properties sheet and select from there to get the VBA code. It works perfectly.

Now in Microsoft Access 2010, if I do that first I must open the form in design view - once it is open in form view, I cannot just click on the upper left corner and select design. If I do click on the upper left corner, I get some selections, but no design view selection. If I open the form in design view and click on a control and then click F4 the whole form closes. That is clearly not what I want that just leaves it to start over and again the cycle is repeated.

These are two things that are different from MS Access 2010 and MS Access 2016. I just need to know if that is in the design (so to speak) and just learn to live with it or that I can change the MS 2016 to operate similarly to MS Access 2010, which I know very well how to operate.

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Respectfully,

    Lou Reed

Don't know about all you explained, but an easy way to get to the code is open the form in design mode, and then in the ribbon on the Design tab, click "View Code".

I will try what you said. I believe that there are some subtle significant differences between MS Access 2010 and MS Access 2016. That was the point of the question.

possible the short cut keys you are using have been redefined - I never use them so I don't know.

In design view - the navigation pane on left is open, and the ribbon on top displays. Right click on an object (form) and select Design View. In the ribbon (in Design tab) - on right is the 'Add Existing Field' icon and the 'Property Sheet' icon - - these 2 icons open & control what displays in the design pane on the right side - either one or the other.

    This has never changed.
