Change a basic Access entry form to a split form?

    Hi there,

I created a basic data entry form for a table with 15 fields. The original fields were: Autonumber, ECO (Engineering Change Order)#, date, ECOdescription, Reason for the ECO, and 10 fields for models affected by the ECO. Three weeks & 250 records later; the table had more than doubled in size to include 2 more reason fields and 20 more fields for affected models.

So, I split the table with ECO (Engineering Change Order)#, date, ECOdescription, Reason for the ECO in one table and the ECO# and the 30 fields for the affected models in another. The ECO# being the common denominator in both.

I changed the data entry form to now have a subform/report for the affected models table. But now I have a rolling sideways datasheet view, not actual fields? How can I change this to go back to the fields and their labels appearing?

    Thank you,

I don't think you're done yet. The 30 fields for affected models should be records in a related table. You don't want to add fields and modify forms and reports every time they add a model. I see a table with ECO# and model, with a record for each affected model.

    Hi pbaldy,

"The 30 fields for affected models should be records in a related table." ~ They are, the table is ECOAffModels. The third table, AffModels, is what assemblies have been affected for each model covered in the ECO. This 3rd table will also share a subform with another table, once I get this figured out.

Below is a picture of what I have so far:

I'd like to change out, if possible the data sheet in the lower portion of the form (subform area) for actual fields. That way the user (me for now, and my boss for later) can see all the models if needed without a scroll bar.

    Any assistance would be appreciated.
