Calendar control is missing in Access 2016

Calendar control 10.0 is missing in Access 2016! Can I get the OCX program and download and install in the current version of Access on my PC? Is it safe to download free versions of the .ocx prog on the Internet? The Calendar control is very useful in several of my user forms.

copy the OCX from another pc.
load it in thru VBE, tools, references.

Why are you using an ActiveX Control, which can be very problematic, instead of the native DatePicker that comes with all DateTime Fields in Forms, since v2007?

My user form was designed with the Calendar control. I have never worked with the DatePicker. From a superficial perusal of the DatePicker it does not work the same way the Calendar control worked and that functionality was useful to me.

Date Picker control only accesses months through the forward or backwards arrow. That is not very useful when dates entered differ by several years. That involves a tremendous amounts of clicking.

That control has had issues for a long time (OK, so you were lucky enough to have not experienced them) and it's only gotten worse with the changes to windoze versions and 32 vs 64 bit systems. Even seems there was an incompatibility with a security patch, and it was basically deprecated for 2010 version. At the very least, distribution was often an issue since ugly things could happen when some user didn't have the ocx at all, or it was in some different folder. At one time, there was even licensing issues if I recall correctly.

So I'd consider making the move to a custom calendar form which you create or use from someone else. There are at least 4 sources here in the 2nd paragraph, along with a bolded statement about why you might want to make this move...

The problem with using a customized calendar form from someone else is that I have no experience with such things and the Calendar control worked beautifully and simply with my Access 2007 forms and programming.

so should other readers see this string: I trust it is known that one doesn't need to use the embedded date picker - the field control option can be turned off if one prefers to just manually enter dates. It would be very rare that any exterior code/module would be needed/imported these days......
