Access 2003 Freezes

I have been experiencing a problem recently with Access freezing.

It happens on random, sometimes when I open up a form in Design View, sometimes when I click a button on a Form, sometimes when I am opening up a table to view the data. It doesn't freeze every time I do these actions, but enough to start annoying me. It doesn't crash, but it takes a minute or so to get out of the freeze.

My tables hold a lot of records, 7000+. Could this cause it to freeze? Anyone else experience freezing problems?

7000 records is not that much (unless you have something like 255 fields).
What is the actual size of the database? Access has a 2 GB limit. If you are approaching that, that could affect performance.
Also, have you tried "Compacting and Repairing" your database. That should be done somewhat regularly to keep it running "lean". Especially if you have deleted a lot of data.

Hi thanks for your response! I am still fairly new to Access so I didn't know about the Compacting and Repairing button.

The size was about 73,000KB BUT after running Compacting and Repairing, the size went down to 7KB (wow didn't realize it could help that much). I'll continue working with it and see if that solved my problem.

Yes, when you delete data or objects in Access, they really aren't deleted from the database until a "Compact/Repair" is run.
They are just "marked" for deletion. The Compact/Repair "flushes" it from your database.
