not sure what is causing this, hopefully someone else has had this problem. i have a query based on a table, both have a comment section that is "memo". in the table the comments are normal but in the query they are coming out as weird characters?

is your query a group by query? if so, you cannot group by (or select distinct) memo fields without it returning garbage - was a problem in 2007, probably still is in 2013
