Unable to create ADP project

I have created attempted to create an ADP project using Microsoft Access 2010 and SQL Server 2012. I have created the file but when I have entered the connection setting I receive the following message

[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]Specified SQL sever not found.
I have checked and SQL Server and SQL Browser are running. I have also checked that I could create a new database and link to a SQL Server, this works fine.



Please can anyone help?

What is it that you are trying to accomplish? Do you need to work with Views, Stored Procedures, and Functions? You can do all of this without creating a project. The way I understand it, ADP was deprecated with Access 2013.

I have been able to accomplish a lot with an ODBC connection and linked tables. You can use VBA to generate pass-through queries (on the fly). I use this driver and make DSN-Less connections.

Yes I want to be able to work with views, s/ps and functions.

I understand this can be accomplished without creating a project. I'm just trying to figure out why I get this error when trying to create an ADP in Access 2010.
