Unable to re-link tables Access 2013

I have been developing an Access (accdb) in V2013 at home for use in my work environment. Ultimately it will be used by a small number of users in different locations hence my need to split the database into a front end and back-end tables. I have done this many times before in other versions of Access and if the location of the back-end files has been changed when you open the database it prompts you to find the new location and re-link them. Since I am carrying on the development at home/work and then taking the front-end into work/home I need Access to prompt me for the new location. However unless you remove linked tables first Access 2013 will not prompt you for the new location instead it just bypasses that and asks you to open a database so you are stuck in a loop. The database has been designed to open offering users minimal possibility of tinkering so I open holding the 'Shift key' down but this still doesn't prompt me to re-link. Why is the linked table manager not being fired up?

Has anyone else experienced this because it is driving me crazy!

I use code to modify table links before distributing the revised frontend. https://www.accessforums.net/access/...nge-36552.html
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

I have not experienced anything like that before. Why not use the Shift Key to bypass and then launch the Linked Table manager within the Ribbon, under the External Data tab?

Are you not able to manually open the Linked Table Manager?

No, again as I explained in original post, it doesn't even open the database - it just goes straight through to 'Open Database' page - so you try to open it again - and you're in a loop!

Also never experienced anything like this. Holding down shift key should bypass code and allow db to open.

Is there an AutoExec macro? Even that should be bypassed.

It is possible to code for disabling shift key bypass but sounds like you never did that.

Can you import objects to new db? Is the problem code behind a form?

Just got into work now - copied file causing problems at home (Front end) - opened it by holding [Shift] key down. No problems. Removed tables and relinked as you would expect. Databse opens normally. The same code is present behind the form the only difference between the situations is that work environment is Access 2007 - Home is Access 2013 - no difference! Oh and I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bit at home. Also Kaspersky ruuning on both environments.

I rescued the database back home last night by opening a copy that had tables imbedded and then imported the updated forms from the database front-end file that failed to open properly. This works so to answer your question yes I can import objects. This one is really causing a headache. Next try will be to use code to force databse to look for misplaced tables.
