Is 1024x768 screen resolution safe min. requirement for new software product?

When we developed a product in Access 97, we designed it for 800x600 resolution monitors.

We are creating an updated version.

We believe we would be safe to increase our minimum resolution requirement to 1024x768. (It appears W3Schools reports only 4% today use 800x600.)

Wondering if there are developers here who have make the jump to 1024x768 min. and how did that work out?

My laptop resolution is 1600 x 900. I will have to check office computer setting but I am thinking 1024x768 should work as a minimum.
