Populating a new record on a form with data from another form

I am fairly new to access so I hope my question makes sense.
The scenario is as follows:


I have two forms fm1 and fm2. With both forms open, I would like to create a new record in fm2. I have a button that I will click for this operation. I have a few fields on fm1 that I would like to populate on fm2. The fields on fm2 need to be populated with the data from the fields in the current record on fm1.

The version of access may be different than yours, but the concepts are similar.
