is this a one to one or one to many relationship?

Hi, I could someone help me out with this please:

customer A rent an equipment. then few years later, customer A returns the equipment. After that customer B rent the equipment returned by customer A. But the database must have history records of customer A to show that customer A had leased that particular equipment. Also in the database, if the equipment is faulty, customer B will logged a complaint using the asset tag of the equipment. So when the operator keys in the assettag of the equipment. it shall show the details of customer b without showing A....

If you have one equipment to many customers that is the same equipment added to each customer. That is a one to many.

If you have one equipment that has a history of many customers you are pulling in the customers that have used the same ID (the ID of that equipment). You would have a subform that lists customers that have purchased the same particular tool. That way on the tool history you can see the customers as a list.

If you have one equipment with many customers at one time - then you need a many to many.
