Dbase to open in 2010 with form already showing like it did in 2000...how ?

    Hi,

My Dbases always opened from the desktop shortcuts with the form I use for adding records already showing on screen. Well it did in access 2000 on winxp 32bit PC.

I now have access 2010 on win7 pro 64bit pc but the same shortcut opens the dbase and the screen is blank, I have to locate the form at left and double click it.

What do I need to do, to get it to display form that I had last been using on screen as dbase opens ?

I normally just open the shortcut and add entries to the form, then save and close.

Have you set your "Trusted Locations" yet?

Since Access 2007. Code does not execute until it is set.

Did you set the option to open the required form when the database is opened?

I don't have A2010 here at home (I do at the office), but I think it is File - Options - Current Database, and look for the option to set the initial form.

    Hi,
    Again something new since 2000.

Just looked at that File>options>Current database and yes there is an option to display form and choose the form to display.

How would I do that but for a table, it only is for form.

I have another dbase that I need a certain table to show when I launch it from its desktop shortcut by default.

As for the form dbase, I shall now do that, but do I also have to do this 'trusted locations' thing as well or will this form>options etc be enough ?

Do the Trusted Location if nothing else. There are a lot of changes since 2000.

If you don't trust the database then must set each user's Access application Macro Settings. We just set everyone to 'Enable all macros ...' because none of my users ever open any database files that I have not built.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

First, if the database is not in what Access thinks is a Trusted Location, it will ask you the first time you open it if it whould be considered a trusted location. Answer Yes, and you won't get the message again.

As for opening a table when the database is opened, you can't specify that in the options, but an autoexec macro might work (I don't use macros at all, so I can't help much on that).
