MS Access 2007 database runs on my PC but not on other PCs

Anyone know why my Access 2007 database(resident on network) works perfectly well on my pc but when attempting to run it from another users pc the forms and reports won't run unless I edit them on their pc and save them? I have an autoexec which executes a switchboard form and that fires up ok both on my pc and on their pc's but it all stops there. Clicking on buttons that should load forms and reports don't do anything. I don't get any error messages.

The db is split with backend on network drive (which is listed in trustcentre) and front end at on local drive (which is listed in trustcentre). Works fine for me but not others. All code compiles fine, I have the minimum security setting for macro so anything is allowed, i've tried renaming the db to all of the various filename extensions and they all behave the same. Incidentily I have the same trouble with a single accdb version of this database.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Check the form properties and make sure the controls are enabled.

Check the References on those PC's for missing ones. Possible corruption also.

I've tried the Db on 4 different PC's and same results. If I open each form and report in design, save them everything works perfectly. There are no missig references. If I make an alteration on my PC then the Db won't work on their pc's unless I go to their pc, open in design, save etc.. then it will work. I am at a loss.

Does each user have their own copy on their PC?
Unless the users have a shortcut that points to a location of the front end that is shared, your changes obviously won't affect their copy.
Did you create a copy of your front end and try it on their PC?
Try either exporting or importing everything into a new db, save rename and place that copy on their PC and see if it works.
What OS does your users have, is it the same as yours?
Are their PC's up to date, Office up to date?

    1. Suspect corruption.
    2. Suspect missing references.
    3. Suspect read only forms and or controls.

Thank you for sticking with this Burrina, I appreciate your efforts.

Nothing is read-only as I say it all works fine from my PC and once I open up in Design and Save on other PC's.

Regards missing references, wouldn't there be error messages?

I have split the Db, front end is deployed on each users PC in an MS ACCESS designated 'Trusted' directory. The back end is on a network drive and again designated as 'Trusted'.

I have created new Db's and imported all of the tables, forms, reports, queries etc.... and renamed so as not to confuse.

All users are using Windows 7 PC's and are all on same version of Office.

I even took the Db home to test on my laptop (windows Vista) and exactly the same results, I had to open the forms and reports in Design and save them which then enabled the Db to work correctly.

I am at a loss. There must be some Access files perhaps, temporary or something buried within Access, a setting or system tables or something that is causing this. Why would the Db work fine for me and fine for others once all the forms and reports have been saved from their pc.

At present there is only test data in the Db which is under beta test by a couple of users. But once it is ready to go live I want to just deploy updates via a script which replaces the front end file on their PC's but I can't do this because of this problem. There will be potentially 20 users and it would be a bit of a chore to go round each user and have to manually update them and even more of a chore to have to open every form and report and save them.

I could email you a copy of the Db to take a look at, it's only got test data in there and is just a couple of megabytes or so. What do you think?

    Many thanks.

Scan your db/computer for viruses. Compile and zip.
