HTML characters in plain text field

I have a table field defined as Plain Text. On a form I have a memo field set up also defined as Plain Text. When I enter data into the memo field on the form and save it, I see HTML characters in the field on the table.

I attached some screen shots of the table definition, form field properties and a look at the data saved to the table with the HTML characters.

What am missing in the definitions?

    Thanks.

Sorry to disagree. When I query the field and export it to Excel, it carries the HTML characters along with it. This should be plain text and not carry those extra characters. Look at the attached Excel file in column L. The field should read "ET@ET.com". Instead it reads "<div>ET@ET.com</div>".

I agree with ranman. Typed in tags are just a set of text characters until used in an HTML situation, such as the body of an email. Export to Excel is just text characters.

A field set for Rich Text Format should present the rich text editor in a textbox bound to that field and is also set for Rich Text.
