how to export a product from Access into an Excel product with cells color coded

Hello,
I'm trying to export my queries into an Excel product color coded to one simple field. for example if a aircraft in maintenance will only be available for four months from oct-Jan in the Pacific i want it colored blue. I want it keying off the region EX: (Pacific) So far It shoots out the product with one color, and I have to manually change the colors in Excel. Any help would be great.

Options:

1. set Conditional Formatting in the Excel sheet

2. set cells to static fill color

Both can probably be accomplished programmatically but I've never tried. Executing this code from Access would require VBA opening the workbook as an object that can be manipulated.

I have an old book "Excel 2003 VBA - Programmer's Reference" that seems to have code example for setting Conditional Formatting on a range of cells. At the risk of copyright infringement, attached is a scan of the relevant page. I suggest you find this book or something like it.

That is exactly what I'm trying to do. I'll fumble with the code, and look up the book you reference. Really appreciate the help.
