    Question Category and SubCategory

    Hello all,

I am trying to make a budget database that fits my needs. I am making a table where I enter date, description, amount, category and subcategory. Now I am able to pull category thru lookup wizard as well as subcategory. Only problem I have is that I only want subcategory to show which corresponds to its category. For example if i selected food as my category than i only want to see fast food, groceries, resturant, etc. to show up, nothing more. So it needs to function in a way that it would with "INDIRECT" function in excel.

    I really appreciate any feedback.

    Thank.

    Dave.

Sounds like dependent (cascading) comboboxes. Review http://www.datapigtechnologies.com/f...combobox2.html

Is this on a Form or on a Query? If a Query, then simply filter by criteria under your Category. If on a Form then you will have to filter accordingly.

Thank you June7. That is exactly I would like to see but for some odd reason access 2013 won't allow me to get "where" selection. Is it possible just to do it in table design view.

This requires a form. And I don't understand why Access 2013 has an issue with this. What do you mean it can't get the 'where' selection? Get 'where' from where?
