    Weapons Database Help

I just got to an Armory and they were using excel as a database. I came across a database that i could use instead but it is outdated and has the wrong forms. For instance I need to update the M16A4 form in the data base to the excel document attached. How would i do this? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Also just to be clear I have no experience in Access.M16 NAVMC 10576.doc I keep getting upload failed on the database as well might be because of the gov network.

Try zipping the database and upload the zip. If you can attach a doc file should be able to attach a zip.

There are lots of tutorials on the web but I recommend you start with an introductory book.

If the issue is how to get into design mode, the trick is to hold down the shift key as the database opens. This will bypass most optional db settings and automated code execution. However, I am encountering something new. None of the forms and reports can be opened in design view or layout view. Never seen this in a normal db, only web and executable db and in web db layout view should be possible but since this is not a web db both modes should be available. Can't even import or export the forms and reports to another db. Even though this file has mdb extension it acts more like an mde. Odd that tables and queries can be edited. Sorry, you cannot edit the forms and reports. You can import tables and queries to a new db and build forms and reports from scratch. But you won't be able to copy the code - that's locked out as well. Where did you find this db?

Yea I knew how to get to edit mode but couldn't figure out how to edit the forms as well. I found it on our share drive at work.

Unless you can find an editable version of the db, you are SOL. Some third-party sources claim to be able to convert executable to editable but I don't know how successfully. Review http://www.ehow.com/how_2266689_convert-mde-mdb.html

If you are still interested Chief Warrant Officer Thrasher made this file probably over 10 years ago by now. Reach out to the armorer in Seal Beach. I don't have the password anymore since I am retired now. They do since I loaded it up for them and unlocked it so that it can be modified. They have the full version and it has M16A4's on it. Also some of the accessories that go with has been updated. If you are still in the Marine corps and have access to the share drive I also uploaded the database unlocked version on to the share drive for 4th Marine Div before I retired.
