Conversion Errors in import

Greetings,

I am having Conversion errors pop up after I run an import, whats the quickest way to fix it?

Import from where? To new table or existing table? Import how? The import wizard?

Fix the original data and try again?

I am appending to an existing table in access, I have matched the formats exactly ie.. text, currency, and date in both excel and access but it is still bringing up the errors.

Not an uncommon issue with Excel import. Want to provide the worksheet for analysis?

Which field has the errors?

I would not use currency format or data type, just number.

Just to add to what June said, I constantly have issues trying to import other people's excel files so here's what I usually do.

Create the table in access, but make ALL fields TEXT values and run the import, see if you get any errors.

If you don't, start changing the fields that are numeric one field at a time until you get the import error, then you can try to track down within excel where the problem lies.

A lot of what I run into are people putting numbers in a column, but then having something like 'N/A' in a few number fields, it's best to track down the problem in the original (as June suggested) to figure out how you can plan your import around those exceptions.
