    Access Crashing

    Okay,
I asked this question once before but had not gotten an answer, so I'm trying again.
Access crashes quite frequently for no reason. I can be working on the DB and everything works fine, close it and reopen and the darn thing comes up with this message box . . .

What can I do to fix this?? (I currently re-save the DB under another name and it starts working again, but I cannot continue to keep doing that.)
I had an IT guy download a fix for this when Access was on another computer and I never had any further issues, however I moved Access to another computer and now I'm having this issue again and the IT guy no longer works for my company, and the new IT person has no idea on what he had done or even what he can do.
Can someone please help me with this, it is getting quite aggravating!!!

So every data base file that you try to open on that computer gives you the error seen in your screenshot?

Sounds like you could have a corrupt installation of Access on that computer.
Might want to try re-installing, and make sure that you have applied all patches and updates.

    Hi -

I think the first thing to try is to have your IT staff remove Access (or all of Office 2010) and reinstall it; there may a corrupt module or file somewhere. I can understand how irritating it is to have Access itself crash for no apparent reason - it is unlikely to be something you are doing wrong - Access usually catches those mistakes.

Have you been able to establish any activity you are doing that is common to all the crashes, or is it seemingly completely random?

It's really only a guess, but might you be coming close to your PC's memory limit, i.e. close enough to cause the crash, but not enought to generate a proper error message?

ItsMe, Yes, When I get this error and I try opening other DB's I get the same error.

JoeM, Tried reloading the software but still the same issue. As far as patches and updates, I really do not know which or what to install. But I do know that the IT guy installed an update or a patch to get it to work last time, just not sure where he got it from.

John_G, I loaded Access on a new server with two 1 TB drives. This is a new server.
I'm using Access as my front end to an SQL database.
Access is the only Office software loaded

Try running the application on another PC. It it works without problems, then that suggests your PC has a problem with some part of the OS that Access cannot handle - the PC should be re-imaged or replaced.

Updates/patches can all be found on the Microsoft Support site. It looks like there was a Service Package (SP1) for your version.

Make sure you download and apply it.

    John_G,
See that's the thing also, Everything seems to run just fine for the first couple months and then BAM! it starts this. (That's how it was on the first computer I loaded Access on,)
My DB is actually quite simple, No Macro's or Modules and have not converted anything to VB.

I was considering Nuke and Pave from the start. However, I have always avoided installing any Office Suites on server OS/platforms.

Are you really running 64 bit Access 2010?
If you go into Access and click on "Access Options", "Resources", "About", what version does it show you have?
Perhaps you already have SP1 installed.

I'm running 32 bit on said computer, 64 on my desktop.
Well now don't I feel like a total idiot.
I'll try loading the 32 bit SP1 download and let you know.
    Sorry for the confusion>>>>

    Okay,
Just tried loading SP1 for the 32 bit system and still comes up with the same message. "There are no products affected by this package installed on this system"
Is there a way to check and see if Service Packs have already been loaded?

Add and remove programs should have an option to view Updates, maybe the sidebar
