    excel to union query problem

    Hi all,

I am having an issue with establishing a link from excel to an access database.
I am trying to get external data into excel with the source being a union query in access. It works fine only if the union query does not contain any 'where' or 'like' statements.
I know that the query is fine because it runs perfectly within access. I am also able to export from access directly to excel.

The error is too many parameters.1

Is there a limitation in excel (Ms query) that conflicts here?

    thanks

Could you just build the UNION without filter criteria then create another query with the UNION as source and apply filter criteria in that second query?
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.

Thanks but I just figured it out. The text criteria in access had double quotes, but excel requires single quotes for Ms query to work.
    Access recognizes both as acceptable.
Not sure why this is so.
