Data Entry Form - Multiple Sizes

    All,

I have created a "New Product" data entry form and it works fine. However, many of the products I am working with are clothing items and have multiple sizes. How do I adjust my form to all the sizes to be selected and then it creates a new record with all the same information (description, pricing, etc) for each of the sizes?

Ideally I would love to have a button that if you choose Yes (to having sizes) it will open up a form that has check boxes for each size. You can then check each size you want and then upon finishing the rest of the details for the record it creates the new line item for each record.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

I think what you are referring to is often called analysis and design. Long before you start with details of Access, you identify a business problem or opportunity. Describe all the business rules that are in scope (related to your problem/opportunity). Identify the things (eventual tables) and the attributes of each (eventual fields) and identify how the things are related(eventual relationships).

Since you are dealing with clothing, I would expect sizes, colors, fabrics to be relevant. I recommend you identify your business rules, create your data model; create some test scenarios; then test your scenarios against the model. Reconcile every anomaly and correct the model, the scenario or the data in the scenario --whatever is the root issue.

If you need more info, here is a tutorial that should help with the concepts.

    Good luck with your project.

    Thank you for your reply.

I have previously identified my business problem and opportunity. I have documented the process and purpose of this database. However, I am struggling with how to actually create the form that will execute my original problem I stated. I have all of my relationships created to execute, but I am just not familiar enough with Access to actually create the form with the functions I want to accomplish. I did some research on Google, but wasn't able to find anything relevant to my issue.

Please show us a jpg of your relationships window.

Can you draw a picture or mock up a version of your proposed form?

I have attached a jpg of my relationships. I have also attached a pdf of how I was thinking I could layout the form. If you have better suggestions, I am open to them.

    Thanks again for your assistance!
