Use unbound boxes in a form

I have a form that uses a query as it's datasource. It is pulling four fields from a table; three are checkboxes. I want to be able to use 3 unbound boxes for a user to input data. Basically what I want it to do is this:

If checkbox 1 is True then append to three specific fields in the table.
If checkbox 2 is True then append to the next three specific fields.
    etc.

How do I get this to happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What table are you takng about, your record source is a query. Most queries are non-updateable.

I do not believe this to be the case. Here's a link for reasons why a query could be read only.
