of ribbons and menus and always the twain shall meet....

    Hi -

This one may be in the "you can't have it both ways" category, but I'll give it a try:

I have been tasked with testing and migrating my Access databases from A2003 to A2010. These applications are designed to keep ordinary users out of "native" access, and restrict them to the forms, so they don't go messing about in the tables. In one of these applications I use a custom menu bar. I know menu bars do migrate to A2010 (but cannot be modified there, I know), but they show up on the ribbon. I want to hide the ribbon, again to keep users out of "native" access, but when I do that, the menu bar goes away too.

Is there a way to see the menu bar without seeing the ribbon as well?

    Thanks

    John

Basically, you replace the native ribbons with a custom ribbon.

I haven't been able to get my security permissions at work to allow the ribbons to function at all, but at home the free downloads of Albert Kallal's custom ribbon class http://kallal.ca/Ribbon/ribbon.htm and gunter avenius's examples http://www.accessribbon.de/en/ work great.

    Your mileage may vary.
