Access application slow after table update

Hi All,



We have an access 97 application in our company and a table needs to be updated from time to time. The person who created the application has left and it is now my responsibility to maintain it.

Users did not complain above the slow performance of the application until yesterday where I updated all the records in a table (mdb file) (through the back door and not through a form). However no change was done to the mde file.

I have received several complains about reports taking a long time to load since my change yesterday.

Do I need to build or compile the application again? Please help as I have a lot of frustrated users waiting for me to fix the problem.

if you made a change to the data only it shouldn't have affected performance unless you added a large number of records, it also depends on how the reports are put together and what the queries driving them are doing but my may question is this: You're listed as an access 2000 user, are your people using a different version than you (particularly if it's Access 2007 or higher). If they are, and the database is an older version you're going to have problems because the database needs to interpret the references your database is using every time you run and code at all.
