Transfer data from access to word

Ok. I have a db designed that prins several reports that are basically army memos. Now I have a new brigade commander that I assume just doesn't like to hand sign paper work. I know that if I choose the export to word I lose all my formatting. Is it possible to create these reports in word then have them prefill their data from the access db. And can I have it all automted from a button on my main form in access. This all stems from needing a digital signature. And the army uses 2007 not 10 .... Please help!

you can google... mail merge using access.

create a template word file and automate it thru access.

Re: Transfer data from access to word

Ok this is apparently way beyond my level. I have a button that prints my 3 reports now. Instead of printing I need it to dump to a word file then the code would have to insert the dod seal in the corner and add the signature line feature from word. Then save the doc to a folder on desktop with a file name that is say the last name of the person the report is for. This is driving me crazy and I dont want to have to create the whole thing in word. I cant leave it up to the people who are going to be using this thing because if anything is the slightest bit off division will kick it back

actually you can update your access report to handle the signature.. insert an image and then output to pdf. I am sure there is a pdf to doc converter already out there..

The sig is from a cac card .. Our military ids and it has a ton of info on it. However I did export to pdf and then as long as the person I send the file to has adobe pro. They can cac sign it. now I just need to figure out how to make an area that tells adobe where I want the sig. Otherwise they have to draw a box with pro

I would take an image of your cac.. then put that in your report.

do what you want to the pdf exactly the way you would do it.. the screen capture the image form the pdf file.. in other words crop it from the pdf.
put it in paint program.. save it as a jpg file..

add that to your report where ever it is you need it on the report(s)..

    Then your done..

Oh.. Im sorry I just say reports because that's what access calls them. Basically the person fils out a form and then the database creates all the memos needed to get them certified to teach and stores the info for later but the pdfs it saves are the actual memos to be signed by commander, commandant and so forth.
